Used Cooking Oil Theft

About a year ago I saw a documentary on how used cooking oil can be used as a fuel to power an vehicle. The guy just added filtered used cooking oil straight to the fuel tank of a diesel car and it ran fine, on used cooking oil! Now, it costs $ to get what most resturaunts used to just throw away; and it's turning into big business for criminals. This is a prime example of how the whole fossil fuel industry will not soon change. As soon as someone comes up with a good alternative, it becomes too pricy and people start to steal it! Either way, we pay through the nose for gasoline or used cooking oil!
Ticked Off

The boys and I are supremely ticked off! These little buggers attach themselves to skin, usually in a warm nook somewhere, and then they proceed to extract nutrients from the hosts blood. I'm all for showing hospitality, but this is a bit of a stretch! Apparently, the tick season ends in June, just in time for the mosquito season; then in August we get flies!

Jo Playing Ball
Jo wanted me to video tape him playing ball so that Mom and Abbi could see it. So the other boys also wanted to be taped. You may want to turn the sound down because it is very windy this day and the mic is picking up mostly wind. Jo does say something though so you could try to listen to his. The boys have been so proud of themselves because they have been playing basketball, baseball, soccer, and soccer/tramp with Dad. Toward the end you can hear Simon saying, "Nice going Jo!"

Happy Days
A couple of weeks ago I was throwing balls at my boys as they tried to dodge them and jump on the trampoline at the same time. I think that is what caused my elbow pain, which is just now starting to get better, I think. So, they have been begging me to do that again, but I just can't throw. So yesterday I went out and kicked a soccer ball at them as they were jumping on the trampoline, and suddenly we discovered a new game! Today we fine tuned the rules a bit and decided that if I kick the ball and it hits the tramp and then the ground I get a point. If they catch it out of mid air, they get a point. After playing for half an hour the boys pulled ahead of me in the last 30 seconds of the game to win it 24-23!

Joshua's friend from down the road came over again today and all the boys played ball! This time I had enough brain cells still operational and was able to think of taking pictures. Jo's picture tells a story too: he loves to read, this book he got from his cousin at spring break and he reads it almost every day! He's my little Ferdinand, sitting and smelling the flowers (rather, reading) while the other bulls run and jump and butt their heads together.

The Greatest Joy
Working outside is one of my favourite things to do. I find it relaxing and invigorating, especially when I can use my tractor! Today after supper I decided to burn some of our tall dry grass to make room for new growth (two of my favourite things: working outside and burning things!). The kids joined me for a while but then soon got bored, and then Joshua's friend came over and soon all the boys were playing baseball on the lawn. I stood and watched the fire and the boys at the same time. They were all getting along and the older two were humoring the younger two and encouraging them and teaching them how to play! After a while I decided the fire would be OK by itself and I just sat down on the back step and watched the boys play. It was a beautiful, calm evening; warm enough to sit outside in a T-shirt, and no bugs. The were all playing together and not one disagreement between them! This was the best few hours I have experienced in years. It's hard, no impossible, for me to explain how this evening has affected me. I knew it had to end, but wanted to just continue to sit and watch and soak in the evening!
